Earth Changes, Times of Transformation and Krakatoa
Astrological Look At The Biggest Bang Of All Time
By Dikki-Jo Mullen
Earth changes, The End Times, Ancient Prophecies. These are phrases uttered almost constantly by those who are caring and aware. I often like to begin personal consultation session with clients as well as presentations to groups and classes with ” I’m not an end of the worlder but ….”
The but is followed by a reference as to how the world were familiar with really is in a time of great change and renewal. We all have to hold on for the ride, enjoy all we have and do the best we can. As I am writing this, in September of 2013, the floods in Colorado, the burning of the iconic Board Walk on the Jersey shore, political and economic turmoil on so many levels and more are indicators that something is happening, an energy field is at work, certainly.
To maintain perspective and faith that all will be well in the end, lets look at the greatest Earth Change and explosion (natural or man made) that has ever occurred. The planet and humanity did survive of course, so this feature is dedicated to the various changes in progress and the future.
To grow is to change. To change often is to grow much.
Each Century has had its doomsday prophets. Since at least the year 352 C.E. The End has been predicted. With my Moon and Mercury in sunny, optimistic Leo, it is such a challenge to maintain a calm, tolerant perspective when I get the latest news about a scary cosmic event or planetary alignment causing a wave of panic. The celestial cycles just indicate that as the heavens move and shift, so does earthly life. Remember as above, so below.
Natural or man made, the biggest explosion of all time took place on August 27, 1883 at 5:30 AM on the island of Krakatoa, located South of the Philippines half way between Australia and India in what was then French Indo China (110E22, 7S48 LMT variation for that year, for astrologers who want to calculate the whole chart would have been -7:21).
It was a volcanic eruption. 300 miles away British sailors suffered burst ear drums. 2300 miles away in Australia the explosion was so intense that so violently shook the ground that residents were terrified. The chaos reached half a world away to the English Channel where ships moored tossed and capsized. Four hours after the eruption the area around the island was in total darkness, due to the vast amount of volcanic ash hovering in the sky. For a year afterward this cloud circled the planet, creating spectacular. gothic sunsets, but effectively blocking out any summer season. It came to be known as The Year Without Summer. Vampires were in their glory.
Ocean waves 150 feet high arose to wipe out 350 villages on neighboring islands. 36,000 people were killed almost instantly. The flames shooting 25 miles high triggered violent electrical storms around the planet.
Astrologically the event chart for The Eruption of Krakatoa is really interesting. Here is a list of the important planetary positions.

Astrologers who set up this chart will see an almost perfect bundle pattern. The Moon node offers an important clue, as the Node shows where eclipses fall. On April 22, 1883 there was a lunar eclipse at 2 Scorpio and on May 6, 1883 there was a solar eclipse at 16 degrees Taurus. The August, 1883 lunations were a New Moon at 10 Leo 45 and a Full Moon at 25 Aquarius 09. Eclipses and lunations (New and Full Moons) will often be indicators of how events are triggered and unfold.
The Biggest Bang volcanic eruption chart shows a Yod (the eye or finger of God aspect, a rare aspect pattern linked to fate) at the Full Moon with the 25 Aquarius Moon quincunx Jupiter as well as the Uranus-Mercury conjunction. The New Moon at 1 Leo was sextile Pluto in Gemini and semi-sextile Mars in Cancer. The transiting Moon at the explosion at 24 Gemini squared the Gemini planets, triggering the Yod.
The eclipse pattern of the year afflicted Neptune (ruler of the seas) in Taurus (a zodiac sign tied to the Earth itself). Negative fixed stars in Taurus (Menkar and Pleiades) are near the pattern. The Sun was square Chiron in this cataclysmic event chart, and Neptune was square both Venus and the ascendant. Jupiter in Cancer, its sign of exaltation, is in the 12th house. This has been called the guardian angel in the horoscope. This showed recovery, eventual return to normalcy and perhaps hidden spiritual forces at work.
So what does this glimpse at the past mean to you in the here and now? Well, Jupiter is in Cancer until June, 2014. Periodically the planetary transits make a Yod formation with the transiting Saturn-Pluto sextile will be quincunx a third transit. The 2013 eclipse pattern is heavily Scorpio-Taurus. Pluto (in the Earth sign of Capricorn) is strongly aspected, much is quite like it was in the 1883 chart. There might well be another statement about who is really in charge coming from Mother Earth before the end of 2014. Dont worry, be happy, smell the flowers and look forward to the future when it becomes time to let go of the past. Mediate on Krakatoa today. At present the scene of the biggest bang is rich with diverse flora and fauna, it dwells peacefully in the bright sunlight, a quiet pocket of paradise.
