The Year of the Metal Rat
The Metal Rat Year is January 25th, 2020 – Feb. 12, 2021
The Rat is revered throughout the Orient for his craftiness and charm. He has evolved into a kind of a Mickey Mouse figure, with an added tenaciousness and diligence. When the world was young, Rat persuaded good natured Ox to let him ride on Ox’s back to answer a summons from Buddha to attend a party. Buddha was to gift each animal who attended with a year. As Ox and Rat approached The Holy One, Rat jumped over Ox’s head and managed to land at Buddha’s feet, arriving first. Impressed, Buddha gifted Rat with the first sign in this, the oldest of the world’s zodiacs. The various years are named in honor of the twelve animals who attended Buddha’s gathering. They affect events and also hide in the hearts of those born during their years.
An emotional and idealistic mood prevails during a Metal Rat Year. This is a White Rat who will support liberal philosophies. Something of the pack rat prevails. Many will seek collectibles to purchase and stock up on bargain items.

Long ago wolves would wander, seeking food. Honor your inner wolf and hunt joyfully and with confidence seeking all that is needed to survive and thrive.

It profoundly impacts the horoscope of the United States of America. On Saturday, January 11, Uranus completes its retrograde in Taurus. New technologies, concern for Mother Earth, sudden meetings and partings, potentials I plants and crystals as well as the power of music can be a focus with this Uranus turn about. Finally, January 12, Sunday, brings a rare Saturn-Pluto conjunction at 22 degrees Capricorn. These are cold and serious planets. Economic changes, karma, values, reputation and the use of power are affected. Weather and Earth changes are significant. The earthquakes in Puerto Rico, fires in Australia, political situations are just a few of the topics this can highlight. We live in interesting times.

Astro-Numerology And Your Future
2020 – A Universal Four Year
By Dikki-Jo Mullen

Calendars and numbers naturally go together. The numbers of the days, months and years help to orient us. Numbers are essential to sanity and happiness, they help us find our way amid the chaos of daily life. Numbers comfort and guide us. Astrology and numerology have gone hand in hand at least since the time of Pythagoras, a mystic and philosopher who lived during the 6th Century BC. Number codes are prominent in many spiritual texts, including The Bible. The numbers one through nine, the nine single digits, are the foundation of numerology.
A wonderful way to begin to understand how number patterns impact the world around us is to consider the Universal Year. This is calculated by adding the numbers of the year in question together until a single digit remains. Here is an example revealing what to expect in 2020. 2+0+2+0= 4. So 2020 is a four Universal Year.
The four year is ruled by serious Saturn, the planet of parameters and responsibility. The four is the square in sacred geometry. It represents the Earth and is the shape linked to the four. Factual, conservative, scientific, serious, grounded, earthy, concentration and focus are the keynotes for the number four. Think of farming, mechanical skills, life experience, survival skills, saving, honesty, applying the wise use of time and resources. Avoid acquiring debt.
Blue, emerald green, coffee, grey and maroon are some favorable colors to select for wardrobe, home décor and meditation candles this year. Crystals to wear or carry this year include jet, hematite, sapphires, onyx and black tourmaline. Music linked to the number four includes organ music, plaintive gothic sounds, choral music and melancholy ballads, also liturgical music such as the Gregorian Chant. The musical note is D.
Health-wise the nerves, hard to treat or diagnose conditions, the teeth and bones, arthritis and rheumatism, depression and age related disorders can require attention . Home remedies can be helpful to some in treating illnesses. Favorable foods to include in one’s diet in 2020, as a 4 Universal Year, are: Spinach, potatoes, all kinds of nuts, barley, beets, vinegar and rye. Sage is the favorable medicinal tea/herb. It has been attributed with the lowering of blood pressure, relieving insomnia and easing of age related aches and pains. One small cup of sage tea daily is enough. Drinking more than that can have side effects.

What does this number four year of 2020 promise for you? To determine your own personal year number add only your month and day of birth to four (for 2020), then keep adding the numbers together until just one single digit remains.
This is an example for Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish environmental activist who was born on January 3.
Add 01 (for January) + 3 (day of the month) + 4 (for 2020) = 8 So the year of 2020 shows a personal eight year, she can expect a time of extra work, widening horizons, powerful action, accomplishment and financial gain. The planets Neptune and Jupiter in her natal horoscope will be accented. (Greta Thunberg was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 2003, but her birth time is not available)

There is some variety in the astrological ruler ships of the nine numbers, but here are the ones I prefer to use along with the important keywords. Look at your personal year number, then consider your horoscope to analyze the planetary rulership and where that luminary or planet is in your own horoscope for deeper insight.

One – will, leadership, vitality, independence, beginnings (Sun)

Two – sensitive, partners, emotions, receptive (Moon)

Three – expansion, creative, diplomatic, sociable (Jupiter)

Four – structured, boundaries, limitations, physical, grounded (Saturn)

Five – dual, communicates, restless, adventure, witty, clever (Mercury)

Six – domestic, loyal, concerned, artistic, refined, cultured (Venus)

Seven – intellectual, mysterious, mystical, reserved, occultism (Uranus)

Eight – tenacious, materialist, accomplished, powerful, upward mobility (Neptune, also Jupiter)

Nine – universal, endings, humane, broad scope, spiritual, reflective (Mars, also Pluto)

Live in Harmony With Your Numbers
Finish up things in your personal nine year, begin projects afresh in a one year. Marry or try creative projects in a two or six year. Work hard in a four or eight year. Take risks and expand in a three year, try study, travel and multi-tasking in a five year. Meditate and contemplate, enjoy peace and privacy in your personal seven year.

Think back upon important years in your own life. Check the numerology of the years you recall. This will help you to predict the times ahead. To look ahead using numerology remember that the months of January and October of each year give a foreshadowing of the times to come in the next year. Events in January and October of 2019, for example, will have foreshadowd the whole of 2020.

Retrogrades and Eclipses in 2020
Eastern Standard and Daylight Time

By Dikki-Jo Mullen, Astrologer

Eclipses are close alignments of the Sun, Moon and Earth. They generate an intense energy focus. Elements of surprise, odd weather patterns, overall changes, growth and new perspectives are linked to eclipses. Those who have a birthday within three days of an eclipse can expect some shifts in the status quo. Perhaps a new job, residential move or relationship situation will play a part in this. There will be six eclipses this year, five are partial and one is total.

January 10, 2020 – Full Moon- partial lunar eclipse in Cancer, North Node

June 5, 2020 – Full Moon – partial lunar eclipse in Sagittarius, South Node

June 21, 2020 – New Moon- partial solar eclipse in Cancer, North Node

July 5, 2020 – Full Moon – partial lunar eclipse in Capricorn South Node

November 30, 2020 – Full Moon – partial lunar eclipse in Gemini, North Node

December 14, 2020 – New Moon- total solar eclipse in Sagittarius South Node
A total eclipse is more influential than a partial. The eclipses conjunct the Moon’s North Node are thought to be more favorable than those which are conjunct the South Node.
