Full Moon on Flag Day!

Strawberry Dyad Super Moon
Full Moon on Flag Day, 2022
By Dikki-Jo Mullen, Astrologer
The Full Moon on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 is at its perigee, which means that it is making its closest passage to Earth and so is called “A Supermoon”. It will appear larger and brighter than most full moons. Also its energies might have a stronger impact on the weather, tides and emotions than is usual during a Full Moon. This lunation might evoke reactions related to military service and patriotism, as it takes place on Flag Day, a holiday which honors The Stars and Stripes.
(Flag Day is a celebration of the adoption of the American flag by the Continental Congress in the First Flag Resolution of June 14, 1777. Although the anniversary of this date was celebrated by flying flags on public buildings and holding remembrances in several cities, Flag Day wasn’t officially recognized until President Harry Truman signed it into law in 1949. Bernard J. Cigrand, known to the general public as the “Father of Flag Day,” worked as a school teacher at Stony Hill School in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He held the first unofficial observance for Flag Day at that school in 1885.) For those who observe Full Moons with drumming, drawing down the moon ceremonies, prayers and meditations this would be an apropos Full Moon to dedicate a blessing to our precious country and flag.
The Full Moon on June 14 will be exact at 7:52 am EDT at 23 degrees Sagittarius 25’, within orb of a conjunction with the Galactic Center! (the GC is 26 Sagittarius 54’. It is the center point of the Milky Way and marks a place of great celestial energy.) Names traditionally given to this Full Moon in June include the Dyad Moon and Strawberry Moon, ushering in influences of duality and a sweet harvest. “Degrees of the Zodiac Symbolized” offer this description for the upcoming Full Moon “A ship in full sail in the midst of the ocean”, it suggests change, travel and a focus on foreign places. Expect the mood to be unstable and unsettled. The closest aspects to the Strawberry Moon are a quincunx to Venus in Taurus and a sextile to Saturn in Aquarius, unexpected social interactions, odd creativity and the urge to make helpful changes can be a focus. This is also in the Sun-Jupiter decanate of Sagittarius, which favors idealism, high aspirations and celebrity entertainers or athletes. Connections to pets and wild life can deepen. It might be tempting to adopt a new cat, dog, bunny, horse or other animal companion.
